Mental health records have a higher level of privacy protection than regular medical records. Most legal issues for clients can be addressed with affidavits and treatment summary reports created after a records review; this choice provides the most privacy protection for clients. However, sometimes legal appearances by the therapist are needed by a client. Please know these appearances are very stressful for the therapist since subpoenas are usually delivered with short notice, and examination on the stand is often hostile. These appearances require an upheaval in the provider’s schedule which can stressfully impact the provider, any scheduled clients, and sometimes the therapeutic relationship with clients; worst case resulting in a loss of the client for the therapist. These appearances often require preparation outside normal working hours as well as extra paid hours of administrative assistance. Sometimes the appearance is canceled at the last minute even after the provider arrives on site for the appearance, which will still result in a charge by the therapist, and can impact the therapeutic relationship. Clients and their lawyers are encouraged to be mindful of these things and consider all options carefully before requesting a legal appearance.

Accepted Payment Options

  • Private Pay: Private insurance is not accepted at this time. Monthly superbills are provided so clients can file with their insurance company for out-of-network expenses. Most clients set up a credit card for autopay (after each session) in their client portal. Checks and exact amount cash are not preferred but accepted.

  • Sliding Scale available for clients who qualify.

  • Straight Medicare (including supplements) is accepted. No Medicare Advantage plans, except through single case agreements.

  • Safe and Sound Protocol costs are included for Jill’s active therapy clients. SSP for non-therapy clients is $300 for the initial remote program, supervision, initial interviews, and assessments and a $50/month subscription for any subsequent use.

  • Organizational, community consultations, trainings, and speaking are by negotiated contract.
